7.D.5 FASION, UNIFORMS, AND REALM DRESS CODE

While people like to be free, and dress in whatever manner that pleases them, or make whatever fashion statement that they wish (and, indeed the Law of God gives people a certain liberty to do so), we also need to realized that people are recognized and identified by the uniforms or fashions that they wear. Moreover, God Commands us: WHEREFORE, COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM, AND BE YE (you) SEPARATE, SAYS THE LORD, AND TOUCH NOT THEIR UNCLEAN THINGS (garments?); AND I WILL RECEIVE YOU; AND I WILL BE A FATHER TO YOU, AND YE (you) SHALL BE MY SONS AND DAUGHTERS, SAYS THE LORD ALMIGHTY! (II Corinthians 6:17-18). Thus, one of the most VISIBLE ways that we can separate ourselves from the wicked of the world, is to not dress like them, nor wear their uniform (typical manner of dress).

And this is one of our most ready ministries, that we can witness to those around us by the manner in which we dress!!! (Matthew 10:32-33) Proper dress is like wearing a sandwich board around your body all day long, proclaiming God's Presence--for all to see.

And, on the other hand, God's Laws DO set forth certain standards about what we wear. So that not only should we know what pleases God in this area, but that improper dress may actually open the doors for demons to operate and promote all kinds of wickedness in our lives! Therefore, consider well and give heed to the standards of dress set forth herein:

...a FOR BOTH SEXES:

  1. IDOLATRY:
Both sexes must NOT wear garments made for or associated with Idolatrous Worship or Pagan Practices, such as costumes or masks of false gods (goddesses), witches' garb, wizard's cape or hat of magic symbols, astrological designs, etc. (Deuteronomy 18:9-12; Joshua 7:19-26)--see also Idolatry, LAW 2.
  2. MODESTY:
Both sexes are admonished to cover-up their bodies in public and to dress modestly, so as not to become involved in indescent exposure, Lasciviousness, or Public Nudity (Genesis 3:7, 21, 9:23; Exodus 32:25; Deuteronomy 22:12; Isaiah 58:7, 61:10; Ezekiel 16:8, 10, 18:7, 16; Hosea 2:9; I Timothy 2:9).
  3. GENDER:
Both sexes are required to dress distinctively different in public from those of the other gender, so that they are readily distinguishable from each other (Deuteronomy 22:5)--see also Transvestism under Mosaic Taboos.
  4. SCARIFICATION (Tatoos):
The cutting of the flesh to leave certain magical or mystic marks (Leviticus 19:28, 21:5; Jeremiah 48:37) or the marking of the skin so as to leave a permenant image, especially if it is Pagan or Idolatrous (Leviticus 19:28; Revelations 13:16-18), is forbidden in the Scriptures and should not be allowed in Our Realm. (Nor should people be marked or tagged as mere cattle are!)
  5. JEWELRY:
Both sexes are found wearing a variety of jewelry in the Holy Scriptures, so they should be allowed that liberty in Our Realm as long as the items are not idolatrous (or magical) nor promote sexual perversions. THOSE WORN--Anklets (Isaiah 3:18), Armlets (Genesis 32:22; Exodus 35:22), Bracelets (Genesis 24:22, 38:18; Exodus 35:22; Numbers 31:50; II Samuel 1:10), Chains (Genesis 41:42; Proverbs 1:9; Ezekiel 16:11; Daniel 5:29), Earings (Genesis 24:22, 35:4; Exodus 32:2, 35:22; Numbers 31:50; Judges 8:2; Job 42:11; Proverbs 25:12; Ezekiel 16:12; Hosea 2:13), Jewels in general (Genesis 24:53; Exodus 3:22, 28:11; Numbers 31:50; Isaiah 61:10), Rings (Genesis 38:18, 41:42; Exodus 35:22; Esther 3:10, 8:8; Job 42:11; Isaiah 3:21; Jeremiah 22:24; Luke 15:22; various other Ornaments (Exodus 33:4; Isaiah 3:18; Jeremiah 2:32, 4:30; Ezekiel 16:11, 23:40).
  6. MAKE-UP:
Both sexes appear to have worn a variety of make-ups in Biblical Times--However the painting of the eyes or the painting of the face was traditionally used by professional women, showgirls, prostitutes, or other fallen women, so the honorable wife and descent married women may do so in private (at home) but should avoid such erotic displays in public (Genesis 38:15-16; Proverbs 6:25-26; II Kings 9:30; Jeremiah 4:30; Ezekiel 23:40).
  7. PERFUME OR COLOGNE:
a vast variety of perfumes and odours were worn by both men and women in the Holy Scriptures (Psalms 45:8; Proverbs 7:17; Isaiah 3:24), so it should be tolerated in Our World, too. (So long as there are NOT adverse reactions or allergies for those around them who smell it.)
  8. COSTUME:
The copying of the dress of certain cultures or time periods can be quite popular by both sexes, but when doing so we should wear the costumes that are associated with the Peoples of the Bible and the rise of Judeo-Christian Culture, the Mediavel World (and its Western History and Civilization) as a witness to others--and avoid the dress of those cultures associated with Paganism and Idolatry.
...b FOR MEN:
As the above regulations tend to cover most issues concerning men's dress, there are only a few things that need to be addressed especially to men, below.

  1. HAIR STYLES:
In general, men are to wear their hair short (or at least considerably shorter than the typical female hair styles), so as to provide a ready distinction between the genders (Deuteronomy 22:5; I Corinthians 11:14-15)--however there are some EXCEPTIONS:

Certain men (such as Nazarites or those having a vow), wishing to live holy lives, may wear their hair long PROVIDED that they either a) wear it in the tradtional 7 locks or 7 braids of the Nazarites, which symbolizes the Presence of God's Spirit in their lives, (Genesis 49:26; Deuteronomy 33:16; Judges 16:13, 17, 19; II Samuel 14:25-26; Acts 21:23-24, 26), OR b) in the traditional long, single braid (Chinese style).

Also, some other men may shave their heads to be bald, either from their vow (Numbers 6:18; Job 1:20; Isaiah 7:20; Ezekiel 44:20; Acts 21:24) or perhaps for military service.

  2. HEAD COVERINGS:
Head coverings, such as the kippah or yarmulke, are nolonger required for the common man in the congregation, and, in fact, are to be considered not to be worn in prayer or in God's Presence (I Corinthians 11:3-4, 7). Noblemen (or Priests), however, may wear the crown or diadem (or official's cap) as a symbol of God's anointing upon their lives and position.
  3. BEARDS:
Men are to be admonished to wear beards, for this was God's Natural way of distinguishing them from women OR from little boys who are still under the tutelage of their mothers--for it is a great shame for a mature man to appear in public without his beard (Leviticus 19:27, 21:5; II Samuel 10:4-5; Ezra 9:3; Psalms 133:2; Isaiah 50:6). However, these beards may be polled or trimmed to be well groomed (Ezekiel 44:20).
  4. COLORS (Colours):
While men may dress in drab and dingy clothing to work in the dirt and grime, in general they should be encouraged to wear bright colors and highly decorative clothing in public, for this is God's way in Nature of distinguishing the male of the species (Matthew 6:28-30).
...c FOR WOMEN:
In addition of the general rules of dress for both sexes (above), there are many specific guidelines in the Holy Scriptures for what is and is NOT appropriate for women to wear.

  1. HAIR STYLES:
In general, women are to wear their hair long (or at least considerably longer than the typical male hair styles), so as to provide a ready distinction between the genders (Deuteronomy 22:5; Song 4:1; Luke 7:38; John 11:2; I Corinthians 11:14-15).
  2. OUTERWEAR:
Because of popular transgression, women (especially, descent married women) are to be admonished to dress modestly (as required, above, by both sexes) and to keep themselves well covered up--and not with form fitting nor see-thru clothing (Genesis 3:7, 21, 9:23; Exodus 32:25; Deuteronomy 22:12; Isaiah 58:7, 61:10; Ezekiel 16:8, 10, 18:7, 16; Hosea 2:9; I Timothy 2:9), so as to avoid Lasciviousness, and to prevent Adultery!
  3. UNDERWEAR:
While women's outerwear is to be loose fitting and of the duller, drab colors and camouflaging designs, her fine linens or lingerie is a different story. In the Holy Scriptures we find these to be of bright colors, such as Scarlet and Purple (Proverbs 31:21-22), and made of the softer, silkier kinds of fabrics (Proverbs 31:22; Ezekiel 16:10, 13), as well as of the more bright and eye catching designs with lace and frills like a budding flower opening itself for pollination (Psalms 45:9, 13-14; Proverbs 31:22; Ezekiel 16:10, 13)--thus as an aid to procreation. Consequently, great care must be taken by women to cover up their underwear, as being seen in it is considered an invitation to intercourse (Genesis 38:15-16; II Samuel 11:2-4)!
...d FOR NOBLES (Heraldry):
Certain styles, marks, patterns, and colors are reserved exclusively for Nobles and their attendants, such as surcoats and coats of arms (etc.), as distinguishing signs of noblemen fashions or heraldry.

Consequently, the tallit or prayer shawl may only be worn in Our Congregations by Our own members--with Tribesmen appropriately marked with Tribal bearings and symbols at the bottom. (Genesis 49:3-28; Exodus 28:17-21, 39:10-13; Deuteronomy 33:6-25)
