THE LAWS OF GOD - #4

The Fourth Commandment and Related Scriptures

God has set forth HIS Laws in the Holy Scriptures for ALL Mankind to know--and obey (Proverbs 14:34 and Isaiah 60:12)!

4th Commandment:

4. REMEMBER (observe) THE SABBATH DAY, TO KEEP IT HOLY (sanctified)!

(Exodus 20:8 - Deuteronomy 5:12)...
One of the major separators of God's People (the Hebrew Peoples) and the Pagans of the wicked world are the celebrations that they keep. Consequently, we are commanded to not only observe the weekly celebration or Sabbath Rest, but we are admonished to keep the other Scriptural Holy Days (or Sabbaths), as well! So, let us review those Holidays and Celebrations that God requires of us, so that we will know what we should do.

.A WEEKLY HOLY DAY--SABBATH REST (Shabbot):

(Exodus 20:8-11 and Deuteronomy 5:12-15)...
REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY, TO KEEP IT HOLY. SIX DAYS SHALL THOU (you) LABOR, AND DO ALL THY (your) WORK: BUT THE SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH (Rest Day) OF THE LORD! IN IT THOU SHALL NOT DO ANY WORK--THOU NOR THY SON, NOR THY DAUGHTER, NOR THY MENSERVANT, NOR THY MAIDSERVANT, NEITHER THY CATTLE (beasts of burden), NOT EVEN THE STRANGER THAT IS WITHIN THY GATES! FOR IN SIX DAYS THE LORD MADE THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH, THE SEA, AND ALL THAT IN THEM IS, AND RESTED THE SEVENTH DAY: WHEREFORE THE LORD BLESSED THE SEVENTH DAY AND HALLOWED IT (made it Holy)! For the Sabbath is a perpetual statute or covenant between God and Israel (Exodus 31:16-17). So, if you want to be God's People (and a part of Greater Israel), then you had better keep the Sabbath, as they are suppose to.
..1 OBSERVANCE REQUIREMENTS:
a variety of things are set forth in the Scriptures for us to properly observe the Sabbath or Shabbot, in a way that is pleasing to God:

..2 TRANSFERED TO LORD'S DAY:
The observance of the Weekly Sabbath is nolonger held on the Last day of the Week or Friday (as in the traditional Jewish Sabbath), but is now to be held on the First Day of the Week or Sunday--in Celebration of Christ's Resurrection from the Dead (or the traditional Christian Sabbath).

..3 BLUE LAWS (for Our Nation):
once we establish Our Realm (Nation) out among the Stars, Our Government there needs to set forth some requirements for all Our People or Subjects concerning the Sabbath:

..4 LIFE PRIORITY:
in interpreting the statutes for the Sabbath for Our Realm, it needs to be kept in mind that the Sabbath was intended by God to be a benefit to Man, especially to the laboring man, and should never be applied so as to bring damage to him, put his life in danger, nor restrict him unjustly from his pursuit of happiness in God (Matthew 12:1-13; Mark 2:23-27, 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10, 13:10-17, 14:1-6; John 7:21-24, 9:14, 16).

..5 FINAL WARNING:
we are to be admonished to always remember that God's anger will be kindled against those who do not keep and observe HIS Holy Sabbath! (Exodus 35:1-3; Isaiah 56:6-7; Ezekiel 20:12-13, 22:8, 15)

B. MONTHLY HOLY DAY--NEW MOON FESTIVAL

Traditionally, the Jewish Calendar followed the moon's cycles, and thus set aside the Day of the New Moon as a special celebration, for it is written: SING ALOUD UNTO GOD OUR STRENGTH: MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE UNTO THE GOD OF JACOB. TAKE A PSALM, AND BRING HITHER (here) THE TIMBREL, AND THE PLEASANT HARP, WITH THE PSALTERY. BLOW UPON THE TRUMPET IN THE NEW MOON, IN THE TIME APPOINTED, ON OUR SOLEMN FEAST DAY (Sabbath)! (Psalms 81:3) Now, while the old Jewish Calendar was based on lunar cycles, Our new calendar is based on solar cycles or years, so we need to adjust and establish the First Day of the New Month as the New Moon Festival, and celebrate it every Month (Numbers 10:10, 28:11).

.C YEARLY HOLY DAYS--ANNUAL FESTIVALS:

The Hebrew Religious Calendar of the Holy Scriptures sets forth 7 High Holy Days that were to be kept throughout the year (and a few smaller, minor festivals). However, no small controversy has arisen over this as not only do we now use a solar (sun based) calendar (compared with the old Jewish lunar calendar--making the dates shift), but many of the modern churches feel that these Feasts have no purpose now. Yet, God (in HIS Holy Scriptures) commands us to celebrate them as best we can--and their Purposes and Plan (and prophecy) become clear to those who study them! Consequently, in Our Realm (and especially in Our Congregations), we will set those Holy Days aside to properly celebrate and observe them.
..1 PASSOVER--Feast of Deliverance From Egypt (Sin):
The First Feast of the Hebrew Religious Year is that of PaySahKh or Pesach, which is a Celebration of the Death of the Firstborn and the Deliverance from Egyptian slavery in the Exodus, under Moses (Exodus 12:6-14; Leviticus 23:5; Deuteronomy 16:2, 5-7). This was also a prophetic foreshadowing of High Communion, the Lord's Supper or Last Supper, which was originally held by Jesus as a Passover Meal (Matthew 26:17-29; Luke 22:7-20; I Corinthians 5:7-8, 11:20-34). Moreover, an alternate Passover or Communion is prescribed for those who miss the original (Numbers 9:6-14). Furthermore, heed God's warning for those who mis-use or abuse this Holy Time of High Communion (I Corinthians 11:23-34)

*** However, due to differing tradtions, permission is given other churches or denominations in Our Future Nation so that they may set other days for their Communion ***

..2 UNLEAVEND BREAD--Feast of Pure Teachings:
The Second Annual Feast (also beginning on the Passover Day) is the Feast (or Fast) of Unleavened Bread or MahTZoR (Matzor), which is to last for a whole week, with an avoidance of eating anything with leaven or yeast in it (Exodus 12:15-20, 34:18; Leviticus 23:6-8; Deuteronomy 16:3-4). This was a prophetic foreshadowing of the Teachings of Christ and HIS Apostles--which were recorded into the New Testament or BReyT QahDaShaH (Brit Chadashah), correcting many mis-conceptions (John 20:31; Revelations 1:3, 22:18-19), as well as symbolic of the Early Church or Apostalic Era.

..3 FIRST FRUITS--Feast of Barley Harvest:
The Third Annual Feast (also beginning on the Passover Day) is the celebration of BiKhuR (Bikkur) or First Fruits, the early grain harvest (barley, oats, rye), which begins in the Spring Time in the Holy Land, where sheaves of the newly ripened grain are to be waved before the Lord (Leviticus 23:9-14; Deuteronomy 16:3-4; Jeremiah 2:1-3). This was prophetically foreshadowing of the Early Harvest of Souls, those that Believed in the Resurrection of Christ (Romans 11:16; I Corinthians 16:3-4. 20-23) and the establishment of the Early Church.

..4 PENTECOST--Feast of Weeks:
The Fourth Annual Feast is ShahVuhoT (Shavuot) the Feast of Weeks or what is commonly called Pentecost (Feast of 50 Days) and is a celebration of the beginning of wheat harvest, which starts in mid-Summer (May/June) in the Holy Land (Leviticus 23:15-21; Deuteronomy 16:9-12; Numbers 28:26-31). This prophetically foreshadows the Current Era of ShuVaH or Return of Isreal to God (Luke 12:24; Romans 11:1, 11-25), including the current Pentecostal or Charismatic Movement, with its Outpouring of God's Spirit (Numbers 11:24-29; Joel 2:27-29; Acts 2:38-39; I Corinthians 12:1-30). And, the Passage of the 7 Weeks or 7 Church Ages (Revelations 2:1-3:22).

..5 SHOFARIM--Feast of Trumpets:
The Fifth Annual Feast is called YoM TeRRuWaH (Yom Terru'ah) or the Day of the Sounding of the Trumpets (Day of Blowing). However, in more recent times, this Holiday has been referred by the modern Jewish Calendar as Rosh HaShannah or the Head of the Year as it forms the modern Jewish Civil New Year (beginning of End Times for the Religious Year). It is a celebration of the beginning of the Year End Harvest of grapes, fruits, and other field crops in the Fall (Sept/Oct). (Leviticus 23:23-25; Numbers 29:1-6) And, it prophetically foreshadows the Future SECOND COMING of Messiah, to be announced by a great Trumpet blast, followed directly by the RAPTURE or Ascention of Believers--and the First Resurrection (Matthew 24:30-31; I Corinthians 15:51-52; I Thessalonians 4:14-17; Revelations 20:5-6).

..6 YOM KIPPUR--Day of Atonetment:
The Sixth Annual Feast is called YoM KiPPuR and it was originally a Fast for the Sins of one's own Soul and then a Celebration of God's acceptance (and forgiveness)--dealing with residual sin, left over from the Passover. (Leviticus 23:26-32; Numbers 29:7-11) And, it prophetically foreshadows the coming Day of Judgement by the Messiah (after the Second Coming), when all Believers will appear before HIM to be judged, at HIS Bema or Mercy Seat, according to their deeds in the Body (Matthew 25: 31-46; Luke 19:12-27; Romans 14:10).

..7 SUCCOTH--Feast of Tabernacles:
The Seventh (and last of the Religious Year) Annual Feasts is SuKoT (Sukkot) or Feast of Booths (temporary shelters), which was a week long (8 day) celebration (Leviticus 23:55-44; Deuteronomy 16:13-17; Nehemiah 8:17-18). This is a prophetic foreshadowing of the Coming Millenial Reign of Messiah on the Earth over the whole World, which is to be set up after the Future Second Coming (Matthew 19:28-29; Luke 20:27-36; II Timothy 2:12; Revelations 5:9-10, 20:1-6).

*** Following the 7 Annual Religious Festivals are some other Scriptural Festivals which WE, in Our Realm (and Congregations), are to celebrate as well. ***

..8 (THANKSGIVING--Feast of Ingathering):
QahK Hah-ahSeyF (Hag'asif) is the Feast of Ingathering, which is to be held at the very end of Harvest--just before Winter (Oct/Nov), when all the crops have been gathered in (Exodus 23:14-17, 34:22-24) This prophetically foreshadows the ingathering of all remaining souls and the Second Resurrection (John 5:28-29; Revelations 20:11-15).

..9 (ALL SAINTS--Feast of Heroes):
Set to be on the 1st of November (after the wicked Halloween), thus about the beginning of the Winter Season, this is a time to honor all the past Saints of God and the Heroes (and Heroines) of the Holy Scriptures by dressing up in costumes to symbolize them. This seems to also prophetically foreshadow our coming time in Heaven when we shall meet all the Saints and those who have gone before us. (Hebrews 12:1-2; Revelations 7:13-15)

..10 (ADVENT--Festival of Lights):
Originally called the Feast of Dedication (of the New Temple), it became the Jewish Hannukkah, which was held at the beginning of Winter (December). (Psalms 30:title; John 10:22) However, this also became the Christmas Season for the Church, reflecting RiShoN or First Coming of the Messiah (Advent) with HIS Miracluous Birth of the TRUE TEMPLE (John 2:19-21), the Messiah or Christ (LIGHT), through a virgin (Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 2:1-21). And, it apparently prophetically foreshadows the beginning events of the Second Coming and Millenial Reign of Christ (see Succoth, above).

..11 (PURIM--Feast of Esther):
This was orginally the Celebration of the Fast of Esther, which delivered all the Jews (God's People) of Persia from destruction by the wicked plans of Haman, but has grown into a big costume festival, at the end of Winter (Feb). (Esther 9:26-27). This apparently prophetically symbolizes the Last Battle, when the Devil (symbolized by Haman) is caught, bound, and cast into Hell (the Lake of Fire)--as Haman is usually burned in effigy at this time (Revelations 20:10). It is also traditional to have a bondfire where books of the Dark Arts are burned, as well (Acts 19:19).

..12 (BIRTHDAYS):
This is an annual celebration of when your own Soul enter this world, through the womb. (Genesis 40:20)

SABBATH PRIORITY: If an annual feast falls on a Sabbath, the Sabbath has priority and the annual feast will be celebrated the next day!

D. SABBATICAL YEAR--Seventh Year Rest:

In addition to the Annual Feasts, we are also suppose to acknowledge and celebrate the Seventh Year Festival (Exodus 23:10-11; Leviticus 25:2-7; Deuteronomy 15:1-11, 31:10-13).

E. JUBILEE (PENTEYAR)--The Fiftieth Year Release:

Furthermore, for every set of 7 Sabbatical Years, the following year (50th Year), is to be a Jubilee Celebration of Rest (Leviticus 25:8-16, 23-55, 27:16-25; Numbers 36:4; Ezekiel 46:17).
